Happy National Cookie Day! The day is here and it’s time to celebrate. As if you needed an excuse to make some delicious cookies, am I right? But with so many amazing cookies out there, you may be wondering which ones you should make for this prestigious, important holiday. Here are some of my personal favorite cookie recipes for you to try this National Cookie Day.

    Peanut Blossoms

    Peanut Blossoms

I make these cookies every single year, and not only do I absolutely LOVE how delicious they are, but I also love that this recipe makes plenty of cookies. There’s always enough for me and my household and to share with others if I want to (or if I don’t want to, there’s enough to last me that much longer!)

    Ingredients:

    • 1 Cup Granulated Sugar
    • 1 Cup Brown Sugar
    • 1 Cup Butter
    • 2 Eggs
    • 4 Tablespoons Milk
    • 1 ½ Teaspoon Vanilla
    • 1 Cup Creamy Peanut Butter
    • 3 ½ cups Flour
    • 2 Teaspoons Baking Soda
    • ½ Teaspoon Salt
    • 80-90 unwrapped Hershey Kisses
    1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
    2. Cream sugars and butters by hand or with a mixer.
    3. Add eggs, vanilla, milk, and peanut butter to the mixture and blend.
    4. Stir dry ingredients together and blend into the other mixture
    5. Shape dough into small balls and roll in granulated sugar. Spread out on cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 5-7 minutes.
    6. Withdraw cookies from the oven, place a Hershey Kiss on the top of each cookie and press it into it briefly.
    7. Put the tray back in the oven for another minute or two. Repeat the process until all the cookies are done!

    Perfect Sugar Cookies

    Sugar Cookies

There’s nothing quite like a sugar cookie. Whether you decorate them with icing, various sugars, or just eat them plain, these cookies are some of my personal favorites and are super easy to make.

    Ingredients:

    • 1 ½ Cups Powdered sugar
    • 1 Cup Butter, Room Temperature
    • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla
    • ½ Teaspoon Almond Extract
    • 1 Egg
    • 2 ½ cups All Purpose Flour
    • 1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
    • 1 Teaspoon Cream of Tartar
    1. In a mixer or by hand, mix powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, almond extract, and egg until well blended.
    2. Stir in flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar.
    3. Wrap dough in plastic wrap thoroughly, then refrigerate for at least two hours.
    4. When ready to bake, pull the dough from the fridge and allow it to warm to room temperature. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
    5. Sprinkle the surface of the counter or rolling mat with flour. Roll out the dough to about ¼ inch thickness and use cookie cutters to shape. Place these cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.
    6. Bake your cookies for about 6-8 minutes or until the edges are light brown
    7. Once they’re cooled,  decorate with icing of choice, or enjoy as they are! You can also add sprinkles while they’re still warm and they will adhere to the cookie.
